This wooden serving board is made from red oak and designed to serve dual purposes as a cutting board and serving platter. It has a generous 11×14-inch cutting surface and a ½-inch juice groove around the perimeter, making it an effective tool for ingredient preparation and as a serving dish.
The base features two mirrored cut out handles that facilitate portability and storage accessibility. The pattern that encircles the perimeter of the wooden cutting board is inspired by the starry aesthetics of our crystal tumblers, adding a lovely frame to your spread.
An Indiana-based artisan woodworking company crafts each board by hand using premium-grade hardwood which is then beautifully finished with multiple applications of a specially blended seed oil.
The premium finish of the board is created using a unique blend of linseed and tung oil. Tung oil is highly durable but is quite thin and requires multiple coats for a proper application. In contrast, linseed oil has a greater density and the ability to fill fissures in the wood, ultimately improving the seal of each board. This creates a durable finish that penetrates deep into the wood grain, ensuring durability and longevity.
Compared to the individual oils, this one-of-a-kind mixture has a greater elasticity, rendering the finish more robust and resistant to wood movement. Our finish is entirely natural and does not contain toxic heavy metal accelerants usually found in commercial oil products. We prefer not to risk the presence of these harmful substances on food contact surfaces, even if the FDA considers these commercial finishes “food safe when cured.”
At Âme Atendre, we place tremendous importance on the artistic significance of commonplace objects. When it comes to our expertly crafted tableware, we believe that it is crucial to attain an ideal equilibrium between flawless functionality and captivating aesthetics.
